Every year, it's the same quiet argument: where do we actually go on that first warm afternoon? The one where the sun breaks through, you clear the calendar, and the question becomes patio or waste-the-day indoors.

Here are 12 Langley patios, across Fort Langley, Willowbrook, and the South Langley wineries, organized by the kind of afternoon you're actually after. Everyone is real, open, and currently serving.

For people-watching on Glover Road

  • Fort Langley, Beatniks Bistro — The patio institution of Fort Langley. Live music on Thursdays, people-watching on every day. Book ahead for weekends. (9194 Glover Rd)
  • Fort Langley, Trading Post Eatery — Heated year-round patio, seasonal menu, and a backyard patio that's dog-friendly. Legendary chicken burger. (9143 Glover Rd)
  • Fort Langley, Wendel's Books & Café — Twenty years a staple, with espresso bar, BC-focused menu, and outdoor seating good for a quieter brunch. (#103-9233 Glover Rd)
  • Fort Langley, Sabà Bistro — European-café vibe with a small patio that's perfect for an early-afternoon glass of wine.

For craft beer on a sunny afternoon

  • Willowbrook, Camp Beer Co. — Adirondack chairs, campfires, oversized outdoor patio with glass roll-up doors. The Langley patio for laid-back afternoons. (#107-20120 64th Ave)
  • South Langley, Locality Brewing — Multiple outdoor picnic areas around the Brew Barn. Built entirely around outdoor gathering. A rare Langley brewery with room to spread out.
  • Willowbrook, Smugglers Trail Caskworks — Small, well-designed outdoor space. Award-winning beers and a genuinely local crowd.

For the winery-view experience

  • South Langley, Township 7 Vineyards & Winery — Open daily 11 to 6. The patio overlooks the vineyard. Reservations recommended on warm Saturdays. (21152 16th Ave)
  • South Langley, Backyard Vineyards — Family-friendly picnic seating among the vines. Seasonal events including brunches and small-plate weekends. (3033 232 St)
  • South Langley, Chaberton Estate Winery's Bistro — The Fraser Valley's oldest winery, with a French-inflected on-site bistro and vineyard-view picnic area. Bring your own food to the picnic zone; enjoy their wines on-site.

For a modern rooftop or city-side glass

  • Walnut Grove, (Sandman Signature Langley Hotel) — The only true rooftop patio in Langley, with two outdoor spaces. Open late and happy-hour friendly.
  • Willowbrook, Haven — Beautifully designed, photo-op-worthy patio space. Higher-end, but worth it for a small celebration.

Plan ahead

The first sunny Saturday in May will be packed everywhere. For wineries and Fort Langley heritage patios, book 3–5 days ahead. For breweries and Willowbrook patios, arrive by 1:30 p.m. or plan for a 30-minute wait, both are worth it.

Twelve patios. One Saturday. The calendar starts now.
