When the clock strikes 11 a.m. on 11 November 2025, communities across Canada will pause; in the heart of Langley, two key ceremonies invite residents to reflect on service, sacrifice, and shared memory.
Langley City Ceremony
The Douglas Park Cenotaph at 20550 Douglas Crescent will be the gathering spot for the official remembrance event, scheduled from 10:55 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on November 11.
Residents are invited to attend, stand with the community, and lay wreaths—if they register by November 5.
At 11 a.m., the solemn moment of silence will be observed as the city honours the tradition of the “two-minute silence” at the 11th hour.
This ceremony offers a poignant opportunity to step away from daily life and recommit to remembrance.
Fort Langley Gathering
In the village of Fort Langley, the annual Act of Remembrance will take place at the Fort Langley Cenotaph, 9045 Glover Road. The service begins at approximately 10:30 a.m. and continues until noon.
Both residents and visitors are welcome to attend in person, with past years offering live stream options for those unable to travel.
This longstanding tradition is one of the village's most meaningful annual observances—and a chance for reflection amid the area’s heritage charm.
What You Should Know
- Arrive early: Ceremonies are outdoors and can fill up before start time. Dress warmly and prepare for possible rain or chilly weather.
- Wreath laying: For Langley City’s event, wreaths must be registered by 4 p.m. on November 5.
- Community spirit: These gatherings bring together veterans, families, students, and residents to share gratitude and honour the fallen.
- Respect and silence: At approximately 11 a.m., the national moment of silence begins—a powerful pause where all are invited to reflect.
Why It Matters
By coming together—whether at the Douglas Park Cenotaph or the Fort Langley site—residents reaffirm the legacy of service and the enduring cost of peace. This isn’t just a ceremony—it’s community memory in motion.
In the closing moments of the day, we’ll continue to remember. Head home, share a quiet conversation, pin a poppy, and carry forward the spirit of gratitude. The sacrifices made demand nothing less.
Stay safe, arrive early, and join your neighbours for a meaningful remembrance.
