LANGLEY — Although residents may notice a faint haze in the valley today, the air quality in Langley remains generally acceptable, according to Metro Vancouver officials.
Smoke from two nearby wildfire zones, one east of Harrison Lake (“Bear Creek fire”) and another across the U.S. border in Washington State, has been observed at higher altitudes. Fortunately, these particulates are not currently settling at ground level.
Metro Vancouver has issued a "medium" air quality update for the Fraser Valley, indicating that despite visible smoke, the air quality remains stable for the time being.
Officials caution that this situation could change quickly, especially if winds shift or fire activity intensifies.
What You Can Do
- Stay alert to local air quality updates via Metro Vancouver’s portal.
- If you notice increased haze or feel irritation, consider indoor air protection methods like HEPA filtration.
- Be ready to adjust your outdoor plans if air quality begins to drop.
