When gleaming chrome bumpers, vintage paint jobs, and thundering engines converge in Aldergrove, you know it’s time for the Langley Good Times Cruise-In. This annual charity car show has grown into one of the largest of its kind in Canada, drawing enthusiasts, families, and visitors from across North America for a celebration of horsepower, history, and community.
This year, the event takes place on Saturday, September 6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Aldergrove’s Fraser Highway completely blocked off between 264th and 272nd Streets to showcase an estimated 1,300 classic, custom, and vintage cars. From lovingly restored hot rods to rare collector gems, the Cruise-In is a feast for anyone who loves the artistry of automobiles. Organizers expect 75,000 to 85,000 visitors this year.
A Rich History of Cars and Community
The Cruise-In began on September 6, 1997, founded by sisters Helen and Leslie Stoddart, as a grassroots event to bring car enthusiasts together while raising funds for local charities. Originally hosted in Langley City, it moved to Aldergrove in 2017, where it continues to thrive. Over 25 years, the Cruise-In has raised nearly $2 million for local charities, with annual donations of $85,000 to $94,000. Its combination of nostalgia, craftsmanship, and generosity keeps people coming back year after year.
Who It Attracts
Car owners and collectors aren’t the only ones who flock to Aldergrove for this spectacle. The Cruise-In attracts families, photographers, tourists, and local residents who want to experience the energy of tens of thousands of people lining the streets. It’s part car show, part street festival, and part community reunion.
Beyond the Cars
While the cars are the main attraction, the Cruise-In offers much more. Visitors can enjoy live entertainment, food trucks, vendor booths, and local business showcases. One of the most popular draws is the In-N-Out Burger truck, which crosses the border exclusively for this event, last year serving about 1,500 burgers. Families will also find plenty of activities to keep kids engaged, making it a full-day outing. On Sunday, September 7, the excitement continues with a swap meet and car corral at Aldergrove Community Secondary School.
Economic and Community Impact
Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of the Cruise-In is its charitable mission. Over the decades, it has donated millions to local organizations, proving that a passion for cars can fuel meaningful change. Local businesses also benefit, with the event generating more than $311,000 in net gains during its 2017 debut in Aldergrove.
So, if you’re a car lover, a family looking for a fun day out, or simply someone who enjoys great food and music in a lively atmosphere, the Langley Good Times Cruise-In is a must. Rev up your weekend plans, because Aldergrove will be roaring with excitement on September 6. Just remember, all cars must be registered online in advance, as there’s no day-of registration.
