When craft beer meets conservation, you get one of the Lower Mainland’s most unique tasting events: Brew at the Zoo. Hosted at the Greater Vancouver Zoo in Aldergrove, this 19+ evening on Saturday, September 6, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. blends craft breweries, cideries, and distilleries with live entertainment and the wild backdrop of lions, giraffes, and zebras. It’s a one-of-a-kind chance to sip, stroll, and support wildlife.

A Wild Twist on Tasting Events

Unlike typical festivals, Brew at the Zoo lets guests wander through animal habitats after hours, visiting sections with giraffes, lions, wallabies, and capybaras while sampling pours from some of BC’s best beverage makers. Attendees receive a keepsake tasting cup and lanyard with their Brew Pass, while a Safe Driver Pass is available for non-drinkers, which includes admission, non-alcoholic beverages, and the souvenir cup.

Who It Attracts

The event draws beer enthusiasts, cider fans, distillery lovers, date-night couples, and groups of friends looking for a memorable evening out. With its 19+ age restriction and valid ID requirement, the atmosphere is relaxed and social—without the bustle of daytime zoo visits. It’s become a late-summer tradition that combines fun and philanthropy.

Entertainment and Amenities

Beyond the drinks, guests can enjoy live music by Kyler Pierce, gourmet food from the zoo’s Oasis Kitchen (think pizza, chicken strips, and poutine), and keeper talks with special animal enrichment demonstrations—including carnivore carcass feeds. Cozy lounge areas, plenty of parking, and shuttle access make the evening easy to enjoy from start to finish.

Supporting Conservation

What makes Brew at the Zoo stand out is its commitment to giving back. Proceeds support the Greater Vancouver Zoo’s conservation, education, and animal care initiatives. Every ticket sold contributes directly to the well-being of the animals who call the zoo home.

Mark Your Calendar

This year’s Brew at the Zoo promises to be bigger than ever, with a wide variety of craft breweries, cideries, and distilleries confirmed. Tickets typically start around $70 for Brew Passes and $45 for Safe Driver Passes—and they sell out quickly. If you’re looking for an unforgettable way to cap off summer, Aldergrove is the place to be.
